Travel Wishes – Destination “G”
by admin on Mar.04, 2010, under Destinations
How about a vacation to the smallest country in the western hemisphere?
Can you “G”uess? Travel wishes and destination “G” is Grenada.
Yes, Grenada did get invaded by the US in the 1980′s and yes, there was that little hurricane visitation in 2004. But that is old news and it’s time to take a current-day look at a vacation in Grenada before everyone else does!

Grenada is part of a three-island state along with Petit Martinique and Carriacou. Located approximately 100 miles north of Venezuela in the Eastern Caribbean, this island chain boasts temperate climates and unspoiled terrain.
Pristine beaches, spectacular scuba diving and snorkeling, a rainforest interior, and some of the most beautiful white sand coastline in the Caribbean await you on the island of Grenada. St. George’s, Grenada’s largest town, contains stone forts, colorful island houses, and very friendly people. Explore this harbor town of 100,000 residents and walk the hilly, winding streets while you attempt to ignore the alluring aroma of fresh seafood. Grab a bus at the central bus station and get yourself almost anywhere around the island.
Grand Anse Beach – Grenada

For a real “country” diversion, visit the island microparadise of Petit Martinique. This tiny island, less than one mile in diameter, is inhabited by locals who earn their living from the sea. With barely one thousand inhabitants and a mighty volcano center, this island is truly an unchartered spot for a little vacation downtime. Catch the Carriacou Ferry high speed catamaran to visit both Petit Martinique and Carriacou. Check with Osprey Express, Ltd. for further information.

What about the beaches?

Morne Rouge Beach – Grenada
There are 45 beaches in Grenada, each more beautiful and serene than the next. All beaches in Grenada are also public beaches so no worries at finding a beautiful spot with “No Trespassing” signs!
Top beach destinations to consider while on Grenada are the 1.5 mile Grand Anse Beach, the shallow and warm-water Morne Rouge Beach, and the more secluded La Sagesse Beach, Bathway and Levera Beaches, and last but not least, Sauteurs Beach, located on the northern coast of Grenada.
Grenada will be far too sedate a vacation venue for travelers with crowds, noise, and hustle and bustle in mind but for those seeking a relaxing vacation destination, Grenada deserves consideration.
