Orchard Cottage, a self-catering holiday home, is a bright contemporary barn conversion in the middle of the beautiful rolling Devon countryside. The cottage has two spacious bedrooms and sleeps up to four people. The property is on 4 acres of fields for privacy, walking and hiking, and also has a pond for fishing in season.

Vacationing in warm weather months? A private pool awaits you. Vacationing during Winter? Give the wood stove a try…logs are already there for your convenience.

Don’t be fooled by the quaint exterior. Orchard Cottage provides both character and convenience including broadband internet, a fully equipped and modern kitchen, and even underfloor heating. If you haven’t experienced this before you will find yourself wishing it was in your current home!

Orchard Cottage is also “green” for those like myself who are concerned about the environment. The cottage is heated via a ground-source heat pump which uses solar energy naturally stored and then provided with minimal electricity. Take a sock-footed walk across these warm floors and give thanks to the thoughful owners who provide them.

The cottage is bright and cheerful with beautiful wood floors, lots of open beams, and spotless, modern kitchen and baths. Towels and linens are provided along with a full range of kitchen necessities. This is “self-catering” at its finest. The cottage also has a washer and dryer, and iron and ironing board.

Food you ask? Orchard Cottage is conveniently located near Witheridge Farm Shop. You can even pre-order food and have it delivered and waiting for your arrival. This takes a bit of the “self” out of catering and makes your vacation stay even easier.

Rainy days bring no worries either when you book a stay at Orchard Cottage. Flat panel TV, DVD player and collection, CD player with iPod docking, and a mobile phone for incoming or emergency calls are available. Or you might want to just grab one of the comfortable sofas and take a rainy-day nap.

The only problem I see with Orchard Cottage is – not wanting to ever leave it. Fortunately for those looking for a truly spectacular vacation rental in the UK, this is the highest praise one can offer.
