UK Vacation “Cottage of the Month” – Cornwall, England
by admin on Nov.17, 2010, under Destinations, Vacation Rentals
Despite some very heavy rains and flooding this week which have given the area a good “scrubbing,” scenic Cornwall is the location of our second holiday “Cottage of the Month.”
How about a cozy nook in a quaint and rural hamlet for your United Kingdom holiday? How about having the beautiful Cornish coastline nearby?

If you only had these two requirements in mind you’d be in luck. But Rooky’s Nook cottage in scenic Cornwall, England has much more to offer.

This holiday cottage proves the adage that the best things really do come in small packages.
Rooky’s Nook is a luxury accommodation perfect for two seeking a cozy long weekend or for a quick holiday break. Head down the country lane in Trewalder, deep in the Cornish countryside, to this former blacksmith’s barn – now transformed into a vacation cottage that is contemporary without losing its rustic charm.
Rough and thick stone walls, slate floors, and a Inglenook fireplace welcome you with textures from forgotten eras while the large en-suite bathroom, fully equipped kitchen, and broadband internet provide more modern conveniences.

Rooky’s Nook has a top floor suite containing one large open bedroom and a spacious bath. The lower level has a bright kitchen with lime-washed oak cabinets, a full-size refrigerator with freezer, stove, and microwave. Open the kitchen’s stable door and step outside to your own private patio set against a beautiful stone wall…

Return inside to your sitting room and enjoy the warmth from the fireplace. It won’t take long for logs (provided by the owner), to heat the slate floors and stone walls while you watch TV via Freeview, listen to some music, or read that book you’ve been trying to find time to finish.

But the real secret of Rooky’s Nook might just be its location.
Anyone who has watched “Doc Martin” will have been astounded at the beauty of the town of Portwenn – in reality, Port Issac . If you haven’t seen “Doc Martin” yet, it is available in the US via Netflix or you can watch it via Hulu. Highly recommended – and addictive!

But Port Issac has some other charms – like fresh fish! Sausages and chops can be found at the butchers in the village of St Teath or in the ancient market town of Camelford, or try a freshly baked pasty in Tintagel (King Arthur Country!)
Your selection of Rooky’s Nook for your holiday cottage rental means that all this and much more is just an easy drive away.
Fresh air, fresh food, and a small luxury cottage in a great location – you’ll enjoy your visit to Cornwall even more with a stay at Rooky’s Nook.

Hi
If you do find yourselves planning a stay at Rooky’s Nook – or another cottage in this lovely part of the world, try and include a concert by a local fishermans choir ‘Fisherman’s Friends’ – sea faring music from around the world in 5-part harmony. They have quite a reputation in the UK, but still do Friday evening concerts on the Platt at Port Issac. http://www.fishermansfriendsportisaac.co.uk/
