A celebration of 60 years on the throne – the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will be held from June 2 through June 5, 2012.

Politics, governments, and borders aside, the Queen of England is a remarkable person. Who could have guessed that the two-year old Princess Elizabeth (Credit: British Monarchy Official Web Site) would, once crowned – remain on the throne for 60 years?
With 2012 being the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee year and with London hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics, anyone even contemplating a trip to the UK needs to get cracking. Here are some good travel and transportation tips for planning your journey and for getting around the UK.
Remember that although many of the events are centered in London, the entire country will be taking part in the Jubilee Year celebrations. To enjoy the country’s atmosphere at a little distance from downtown London, review the UK Cottage of the Month series. These are exceptional options for joining in on the country’s party without the potential stress of being right in the middle of it all.
Don’t forget to get yourself a Great British Heritage Pass for huge savings throughout the United Kingdom in 2012.
