Welcome to your chateau…

A dream property…imagine your own French chateau…

You’re in luck – the Chateau La Chassagne is for sale, with an asking price of 10.5 million euros or about $14.4 million US dollars. But, this is today’s dream property so while we are dreaming, money is no object!

This beautiful chateau is in Dijon, the capital of the Burgundy region, and near the village Pont de Pany at the entry of the valley Ouche. Built in 1830 as a hunting lodge, the chateau was fully renovated in 1991 and contains a bistro, two restaurants, and (still!) a hunting lodge, and offers luxury rooms and suites for 24 guests. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a bed and breakfast, this would definitely fit the bill.

Your exclusive guests will have nearly 100 acres of grounds to stroll which includes a private airfield, a vineyard, a golf-driving-range (Par 3), a tennis court, two heated swimming pools, and a pool house with a fitness center and sauna. Continue your stroll through the garden which includes a covered barbecue area. If your leisure time includes hunting, the chateau also offers a 3-acre reserve with game, pheasants and hares. A chapel, stables (and horses!), a private vineyard and winery, and a tennis court, completes this pastoral and luxurious property.

According to CNN, France is one of the best places in the world to live.

Unfortunately, this article seems slanted towards expectant persons who want to stay in the hospital a week after giving birth – something I’ve heard is not always the best thing to do.

France is a beautiful country with friendly people, but Paris is out of price range for many American travelers and prospective expatriates will have massive sticker shock when trying to rent or buy property.

Here is a cozy little house to rent not far from Paris for a paltry $2,054 per week US. If you currently have an $8,000 per month mortgage in the US or pay $8,000 in rent (I hope not!), then, “Vive la France!”

A house for sale a little closer to Paris? $575,000 US and built in 1904…quaint, and needing a thorough inspection, but maybe a steal in the Paris real estate market…

Not trying to slam Paris or France – I love the place. Just remember to read between the headlines. Other areas of France are much less expensive but the article does not mention any of them. I wish they’d taken time to give us a little more detailed information…
