This is from the US State Department, NOT the ACLU so it should probably be carefully considered if not heeded.

“Due to this situation, the State Department has given family members of officials at the U.S. Consulates in Nogales, Sonora; Tijuana; Ciudad Juarez; Nuevo Laredo; Monterrey; and Matamoros permission to temporarily move to the U.S. This new warning extends the authorization that was first issued in March.”

If the State Department is allowing its employees to return to the US, that’s good enough warning for me. Don’t take runnecessary risks. No travel is worth it.

In the last few weeks there has been a lot of news about Spring Break travel to Mexico and none of it good. I wasn’t going there anyway but I would certainly not go somewhere known to be unsafe.

The US State Department has a web page that lists known trouble spots and advises American travelers as to potential risk – via warnings and alerts. I am curious to know how many people check these before planning travel and vacations?
