Before You Go
Where To Go
|
If you think you would like to spend your next vacation on a ranch, guess what? You still have many decisions left to make. Ranches are very popular travel destinations but as with so many other words like "country", "ranch" has many different meanings - and depends on your own personal definition.
As example, possible "ranch" destinations and activities could be USA or International, for cattle-driving, horseback riding or pack trips and fishing and/or hunting - or all of the above. Selections are available specifically for families with children or at the other extreme...for those who want to rough it on a week-long cattle drive.
A ranch could be for groups - with communal dining and day activities with nights spent sitting with the group around the good old campfire or, luxurious and private cabin rentals for two with hot tubs and chef-prepared Michelin-starred meals.
Ranches can be located in dry, desert-like climates, or in the mountains on a lake with cool or cold mornings and evenings.
Extreme? Yes. A couple exciting examples of ranch vacation destinations are "visited" below.
Lost Creek Ranch and Spa
Wow - is that a beautiful view?
Rustic certainly does not mean doing without amenities and Lost Creek Ranch and Spa, located along the Grand Teton Mountains range in majestic Wyoming proves it.
This is a perfect place for escape to both world-class luxury and rugged western adventure. Horseback riding to awe-inspiring scenery or a leisurely glide down the Snake River - plan on spotting moose, bison and black bear along the river bank. Lost Creek also offers world-class fishing for rainbow trout, golfing under the Tetons, and even spa packages.
So, this is a "ranch" vacation but also a "relaxing" vacation. There are activities for all but this is not for those who want to experience a real, working ranch. That comes next...
Runamuck Guest Ranch
Established in 1886, this 5th generation-owned ranch is a true find for those wanting a "working" ranch vacation experience.
Would you like to be part of the Spring Roundup?
Riding, roping all day and sitting around the tents and campfires to swap the day's stories at night? You can even visit nearby Glacier National Park and stay in the Runamuck Ranch cabin...
To take part in the annual roundup, book early - spots are limited and fill up fast.
